First Look at the Von Rotte Dwarf Cavalry Units

Its time for the first look at the third round of coming releases for the Von Rotte Legion for use in Flintloque and Slaughterloo. We are at the half way point now and following on from the line infantry, command set, artillery crew we have the cavalry units. Hussars and Cuirassiers on Pummilig Pigs with a total of twelve new Dwarf poses! Read on for more information. CLICK HERE to visit the Von Rotte page on our website.

52519 Von Rotte Cuirassiers
This is a set of 28mm miniatures which give you a group of heavy cavalry ideal for the charge and smashing the foe. Meant for use with the Von Rotte Legion but equally at home with any other Finklestein Dwarf army. Five different Dwarf riders in white metal and five identical resin Pummilig Riding Pigs. An officer with his hand raised in salute wearing a periwinkle wig and a monocle, a musician blowing a trumpet, a standard bearer with the 'bristle' flag pole and two poses of trooper armed with straight swords wearing tricorne hats. The riding pigs wear saddle and tackle with a cartridge box. This totals five cavalry miniatures. You will be able to choose from this set or a full unit of ten with a saving or the option of purchasing a single trooper to add to your forces. As with all our Valon miniatures we will offer the additional choice of purchase pro-painted and based by our team of ladies here in Scotland.

52520 Von Rotte Hussars
This is a set of 28mm miniatures which give you a group of light cavalry ideal for scouting and harassing the foe. Meant for use with the Von Rotte Legion but equally at home with any other Finklestein Dwarf army. We went crazy here and made seven different poses! In the set you will get five different Dwarf riders in white metal and five identical resin Pummilig Riding Pigs. An officer with his hand raised in salute, musician with trumpet, standard bearer with the 'bristle' flag pole, a sergeant with arms at his sides riding hard along with three different poses of trooper with curved sabres (one random supplied in the five figure set). All are wearing mirliton (dolman) head gear and a pelisse over one shoulder. The riding pigs wear saddle and tackle with a cartridge box. This totals five cavalry miniatures. You will be able to choose from this set or a full unit of ten containing all seven poses with a saving or the option of purchasing a single trooper to add to your forces. As with all our Valon miniatures we will offer the additional choice of purchase pro-painted and based by our team of ladies here in Scotland.

These two codes have a sure place in a Dwarf players collection as he builds towards a full division giving both light and heavy cavalry.

Here is a close up picture of the 'Bristle' that tops the standard bearers pole for both units. Nice eh!

Interest is growing and emails and feedback are showing that wargamers are looking forward to what is coming next. We have these releases to make and more too which will be ending in a month of so when we have completed the whole Von Rotte Legion. At that time a whole Divisional Army Pack (DAP) will be released also. So check back as we will be releasing these on Friday 6th March 2015. Go now or go then to pick yourself up a brilliant set of Napoleonique Dwarves created by our in house art, design and sculpting team headed by Sam Croes.

52518 Von Rotte Dwarf Artillery Crew released for Flintloque

We are proceeding with the addition of an entire new army to the miniatures line for Flintloque and for Slaughterloo.  Following on to the Von Rotte Line Infantry and the Von Rotte Command Set we have the brand new Artillery Crew released today.  Read on for more information.  CLICK HERE to visit the Von Rotte page on our website.

52518 Von Rotte Artillery Crew
This is a set of 28mm white metal and resin miniatures full of characterful touches that form a small unit to man your field guns in battle.   Meant for use with the Von Rotte Legion but equally at home with any other Finklestein Dwarf army.  Six Dwarf gunners on foot along with two Pummilig limber pigs.  A Gun Captain with his arm in a sling, foot atop a cannon ball and aiming a pistol.  A sponger with sponge topped ram rod ready to clean out the cannon for reloading.  A gunner with a trail spike to align the cannon before firing.  With a length of lit slow fuse out stretched a Dwarf gunner who has his Tricorne under his arm.  A gunner with water bucket and arm raised in defiance of the enemy and finally a Dwarf gunner struggling with a large shotte or shelle for the artillery piece.  Two identical limber pigs are included and these are Pummilig Pigs of the same kind that are ridden but with the addition of limber harness and tack.  This totals eight miniatures which is the full gun crew and that will work with all of our artillery pieces but its really meant for the 59520 Mortar which is the normal Legion artillery.  This set has a place in a Dwarf players collection as he builds towards a full division. Go HERE.

Choose from the full set or select one single gunner on foot or a limber pig to boost your forces.  All miniatures can be purchased unpainted and are supplied with bases or pro-painted with sculpted basing effect.  Use the drop down options menu on the product page of your choice for details.

VON ROTTE MORTARS
The Baron’s hated of gunners was well known in the League Army and he refused to have them near him when on the battlefield. In fact officers who wished for promotion avoided the artillery as if their lives depended on it; the chances of advancement were very slim indeed. Few field guns operated with the Von Rotte regiments and aside from a good siege gun park, as the Baron loved reducing enemy fortresses by fire, only the mortar crews were well supported. Some Dwarven technics have argued that the desire for mortars shown by the Baron had more to do with being able to shell the enemy without having to adjust his perfect lines of soldiers on the battlefield; rather than tactical genius. Either way mortars, like howitzers are masters of indirect bombardment and have a very fine range. While Dwarven howizters on wheeled carriages came in six or ten pounder weight of shotte, the mortars used by the Von Rotte corps begin at ten pounds for company mortars and progress to a common twenty four pounder and some very heavy fifty pounder mortars. These brass guns sit upon wooden plinths loaded into to carts for transport and then placed on solid ground for firing. Many enemy forces are caught off guard by these mortar’s flinging shelle into their midst. Gunner crews wear white breeches and red coats with black tricorne hats. The ammunition cassions and mortar carts were pulled by limber pigs of the same breed used by the cavalry.

The natural place for the Von Rotte is central Urop fighting against the Dogmen of Ostaria and the Dwarves of Krautia.  You can learn more about this campaign in 5028 Flintloque 3rd Edition Beir & Bones game book. Click HERE to visit the website to read more on this book.   There are other codes in the Von Rotte range already including the Baron himself on Bristle the pig as well as Line Infantry and Grenadiers.

We will have first look posts at the Cavalry for the Von Rotte Legion next...two different units....

Katie's Take on the Cryptmass Goblin House for Flintloque

Was it really the festivemass season back in 2013 when we released the funky little Goblin Cryptmass House?  This was our first venture in to resin production in 28mm and while we have moved on and done many more things since then including more for Flintloque this kit resonates with me.

Katie is a firm fan of Flintloque and she has updated her blog with a posting about her work on her own 59007 Cryptmass Goblin House and as you can see she has not gone for a snowy winter but rather an overgrown lichen and moss look.  Its rather fetching I think.

Additionally Katie has managed to get herself a Flintloque section of nineteen miniatures painted at just 300 points in game terms.  This is quite remarkable but then they are 52504 Dwarf Militia.

You can read the whole post and see more HERE.

Go HERE if you want to see more of our own Goblin House. Above is concept art done in the summer of 2013.

Well done Katie!

51600 Ferach Elf Catalucia Division – Huge Offer!

THE ELVES OF ARMORICA
LEADERS OF THE FERACH EMPIRE

Mordred’s Ferach Armee is made up of a diverse mixture of different troop types and races. His own soldiers, the Elves of Armorica, are his ‘enfants terribles’, and take the pride of place in the force with which he intends to rule Valon. Well-disciplined and drilled to perfection, the Elves are the masters of military manoeuvre, combining their lethal columns with the devastating firepower of some of the best Artillery in all Valon. This force has taken Valon by storm, and had not the rest of the world combined to fight against it, there is a lurking possibility that the Elves would have conquered them all by now...

We have brand new pictures of one of our favourite and most popular Slaughterloo Divisional Army Packs now on our website.  This will allow you to see just what is in this whole army (which can also be broken down and made into a dozen or so Flintloque sections) with a divisional picture and pictures of each part of it too.  But that is not all!

Alternative Armies has an offer on the 51600 Ferach Elf Catalucia Division where you can save not only 18% off the list price of all the constituent units when bought separately but also a FREE set of 51503 Elf Field Hospital worth 18.00GBP included automatically in the division box when purchased.

Excellent!  You can see the Division HERE.  Total worth is 213.88GBP and price is 166.00GBP which also includes free worldwide shipping!

If you are a fan of our pro-painted miniatures then we can make an extra offer to you as we are making the same offer on the division painted and based like in the images.  It offers the same saving of 18% off list price AND it has a painted and based set of 51503 Elf Field Hospital worth 36.00GBP included free!   You can get a whole painted and based division created and finished by hand in Scotland by our talented studio girls ready to use right out of the box.  It is also free worldwide shipping and comes extremely well packed. Total worth painted and based as seen is 531.60GBP and price is 420.00GBP including free worldwide shipping. On the page for the division click on the drop down menu and select 'Pro-Painted Division' and we will do the rest for you.  Go HERE.

Trolka now in Resin re-releasing this month for Flintloque

Trolka Jager next to an Elf Dragoon on Horse
Late on last year Alternative Armies withdrew the largest soldiers on Valon from regular release on our website.  The Trolka of Skandavia were the biggest single piece miniatures in our huge28mm scale Flintloque range standing an average 50mm tall and some 25mm across the belly.  Big lads! Fighting on the side of the Ferach Emperor Mordred they had line infantry, light infantry, cavalry and artillery all in white metal.  But no more.....

In a little over a week we will be re-releasing these miniatures re-mastered into high quality resin! While we will not be doing this with almost everything else in the range as we love white metal miniatures as do many wargamers for these huge fellows it made sense.  As a result the new price of each Trolka including a base is fifty percent less than it would have been as of this year remaining in white metal.  So every Trolka will come with 30mm square resin cartouche base (or a 50mm by 25mm Cavalry base of the same type) and all of the infantry are resin with a few retaining white metal separate hands and weapons.  The cavalry are going to be mounted on a massive now resin moose while the riders remain white metal.  The gunners are all resin but the leather barrel cannon kit for them remains white metal.

Here is a list of the coming codes including unit packs with a saving.
